Please elaborate on Mega Lifesciences

Mega Lifesciences established in 1983 is now spread over 30-plus countries. It arrived in Myanmar in 1995. Mega Myanmar at present has two industries: Mega We Care and Maxxcare.

Mega We care is expanding sales of drugs made by international pharmaceutical companies including prescription and over-the-counter, and medicinal supplements. A lot of those are produced by Mega-owned manufacturers in Australia and Thailand. Maxxcare distributes the said drugs and supplements as well as a variety of personal products.

Your current Role & Responsibilities at Mega..

Mega has 1,400 employees in Myanmar and I lead and direct the whole organization. I am also a Mega Global Board Management member at Global Mega Lifesciences.

Challenges and your victory over them since Mega Myanmar was formed…

Since 20 years ago Mega Lifesciences has been an international market operator and distributor. Challenges were abundant in contrast to increase FDI today. Back then in a small market, a great deal of our thought turned to what to import, how to control the financial flow, and how to run an industry professionally, infrastructure like transport, communications and electricity lagged much behind. Our conviction was to take the challenges as opportunities. We know a company has to face managerial changes, policy changes so that we are able to make good results of them. We were one of the first incoming foreign companies and always determined not to leave the country whatever  the difficulties. We fully believe in Myanmar, and are determined to bring good drugs to the people.

Now Myanmar has a political arrangement and economic arrangements in place, and more FDI for its open market. So what pre-parations have you made for rising com-petition?

Myanmar has been made open to economic investments since some years ago. Competition existed in the pharmaceutical field. For possession of  great products and brands our market is already strong and solid. Prospects tend to be good. More opening of the country means greater market. Customer can now choose what he wants, and that means good to all investors.

Assess how will the company be trending in coming five years

Myanmar market has become interesting, and positive-looking also. Coming years should see more development, wider market. We have been a fixture in the country for so many years that we understand Myanmar customer’s habits and likes. Moreover we should soon be giving better service to Myanmar people through expanded sales of Innovative drugs which are in line with Customer’s needs and liking.

Mega Myanmar’s vision and future plans…

It is simple. We will focus on work in our industry. MIC has permitted us to invest USD 21 million in the country during the next five years. It will be used for investing in infrastructure most appropriate to our industry.

We are not different than a Myanmar company in that it is constituted 99.9 percent with Myanmar workers.

We will continue to bring Myanmar Customer quality drugs and products accompanied by good service.
