KATANA Japanese restaurant

Decoration
The front is decorated in a Western-bar style. Under the yellow sunshade you can enjoy eat-ing, while feasting your eyes on the view outside. The interior decoration has Samurai swords as part of Japanese theme. There are two separate rooms, each with a toilet, for those preferring privacy. One of the rooms is for 6 people and the other is for 8. There’s yet another room for as many as 10 people. The dining hall can accom-modate up to 60 people all at the same time.
Menu
The main items are Japan-style (Shabu) Hot Pot. You may order dishes with pork brought in directly from Spain. Also available are chicken roast called (Yaki Tori), Katana Suchi, Katana Roll etc.
Favourite items are Shabu – Shabu (Hot Pot), Steak, Burikama Shio Yaki Tori (a variety of chicken roast), Sushi Sets; Demi Glace Ham-burg, sauced Beef steak; Kamei Beef Stew; fried chicken wings in two styles; a variety of dishes for lovers of tasty pork; Butter rice; Grill Rice; etc. Prices range from as little as 2000 kyats to sixty – thousand kyats.
Wine is available at the Wine Bar next door. Wine is from France, Italy, Chile, New Zeland, etc.
Service
The restaurant provides WiFi service for internet users. It serves Japanese traditional Green Tea. It also serves seasonal fruits to regular customers and those customers with 100,000 kyats and above on the bill. Though there is no room charge, there is a 5% government tax. The restaurant offers discount to all its customers.
Condiments are from Japan, and no artificial seasoning powder is used. Traditional Japanese foods are cooked by local experienced cooks often trained by the Japanese chefs. The restaurant always sees that its staff take care of their personal hygiene.
Customers
Customers are local business people, artistes and foreigners. As the restaurant caters for both European and Asian tastes, American customers would drink wine after having steak. Most of the Asian customers were seen having hot pot and a variety of roasts and drinking Japanese liquor.
Prospect
“Hotel and restaurant business depends on the country’s economy”, the man in charge said. “As its economy grows, so does its consumer spending. We all have to keep going to achieve this end.”
Looking ahead
The restaurant has a plan to create new items of food and also for seasonal sales promotion.
