Yoma Yangon International Marathon 2015 to Support Underprivileged Children in Myanmar
Yangon, Myanmar, 30 October 2014 – The organisers of the Yoma Yangon International Marathon (“YYIM”) for 2015 are proud to announce the first three organisations that have been selected as beneficiaries of fund-raising efforts in relation to YYIM 2015. Following an evaluation of the support and assistance required and in line with the YYIM 2015’s charity theme of “Run for Children”, Yoma Strategic Holdings Ltd (“Yoma Strategic”), First Myanmar Investment Company Limited (“FMI”) and Yangon City Development Committee (“YCDC”), have thus far selected the three organisations as follows:
YCDC Day Care Center
Su Taung Pyae Youth Development Center
Aung Za Bu Youth Development Center
These selected organisations currently provide educational and residential support to a combined total of more than 3,000 children, many of whom are orphans and come from areas affected by ethnic conflicts. Additional beneficiaries may be selected over the coming months and will be announced as and when they have been confirmed. Supporting underprivileged children in Myanmar is the common theme for selection of the charities.

YYIM 2015 Charity Ambassadors
The third YYIM, taking place on 11 January 2015, will feature a new philanthropic component spearheaded by the Charity Ambassadors driving fundraising efforts for the beneficiaries. The Charity Ambassadors will be undertaking a number of fundraising events and will be helping to raise the profile of the YYIM and the selected charities.
Popular Myanmar singer and songwriter Sai Sai Kham Leng is the latest celebrity to join the YYIM 2015 Charity Ambassadors team. Sai Sai joins Myanmar actress and social activist Grace Swe Zin Htaik, Principal & Founder of Strategy First Institute and Managing Director of ACK & Co Services Ltd, Aung Chit Kin, singer Lung Sitt Ja Moon (Ah Moon) and model/actress, War So Moe Oo, as they mobilise their families, friends and fans to raise awareness and funds for the selected charities.
“I jumped at the chance to be involved in this project to raise money and awareness for such worthy causes while participating in an international standard sporting event right here in Yangon. I will do my upmost to encourage all of my friends and fans to sign-up for this year’s marathon and contribute to the charity drive. Let’s run together in support of the children of Myanmar!” said Sai Sai.
How to contribute to the YYIM 2015 Charity drive
Members of the public can make a donation in support of the YYIM Charity Ambassadors and the selected charities by visiting the GIVEasia website: www.giveasia.org/movement/
Marathon participants can also join in the fundraising efforts by signing up on the GIVEasia website. An account and profile can be created to allow each individual runner’s family and friends to make online donation in their name in support of the selected charities.
Persons who wish to make a cash donation in support of the charities drive can do so in person by visiting the YYIM 2015 registration booth located inside FMI Centre, No 308, Bogyoke Aung San Road, Pabedan Township, Yangon.
