Suzuki to establish factory in Thilawa SEZ

SUZUKI has announced that it plans to expand its business in Myanmar by building a manufacturing factory of automobiles and motorcycles in the Thilawa Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

The factory is slated to be operational in 2018.

Border trade value between Myanmar and China rises by over US$3 Million

BORDER trade value between Myanmar and China has risen by over US$3 million this fiscal year when compared to the same period last fiscal year, according to the trade department.

Myanmar-China border trade value from I April to 15 July of the 2016-2017 fiscal year amounted to US$1,515.248billion whereas, during the same period last fiscal year, it was US$ 1,512.144billion.

Upgrade of Yangon Circular Railway to be implemented in 2017-2018

THE upgrading of the Yangon circular railway is stated for the 2017-2018 fiscal year, it has been reported.

Upgrading the railroads will include the renovation of 10 railway overpasses, the installation of automatic gates at 21 railway crossings, upgrading Kyimyindine, Danyingon, Insein, Mingaladon and Paywetseikgon railway stations.

The cost for building all necessary infrastructures to upgrade the Yangon circular railway will be incurred by the government. The Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) will contribute US$ 206 million to the project.

Select startup entrepreneurs clarify business plans

Twenty-three select small and medium enterprises clarified their business plans on their lines of products and services at the Ayeyawady Riverview hotel in Mandalay yesterday.

The Group was selected under the programme of SME development strategy jointly organized by the International Labor Organization and the AAT Business Park.

The 23 chosen startup entrepreneurs are required to take a three-month course. On completion, three entrepreneurs will be awarded K5 million (US$4,200) K3 million (US$2,500) and K2 million (US$1600) is prize money as starting capital for their businesses.
