Myanmar imports nearly 15,000 motorbikes this month
MYANMAR imported about 15,000 motorcycles worth over US$6m through border trade camps within the first week of this month, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
According to the ministry’s official figure, 12,923 motorbikes were imported through Muse trade zone, 120 bikes from Lwegel trade camp, 60 bikes from Kanpiketi trade camp and 1,792 bikes from Myawady trade camp at the beginning of this month.
Myanmar corn market expands to China
MYANMAR corn has expanded to China with the import of American maize halting in late 2014. Corn is cultivated across Myanmar, with corn plantations exceeding 1,093,482 acres and producing over 1.5m tonnes of maize seed every year.
There are about 300,000 tonnes of the maize for the local consumption and the wastages of maize seeds and the additional maize seeds are being exported to the foreign countries. A total of 1,188,438 tonnes of maize has been exported through normal trade as well as border camps in 2015-2016 fiscal years. During this fiscal year, over 1 million tonnes of maize have been exported, said and official from the Ministry of Commerce.
