Survey on Businesses in Myanmar 2014 elaborated
The first-ever Survey on Businesses in Myanmar was briefly explained by UMFCCI on 6-5-2014. It was conducted through the cooperation of UMFCCI with OECD and UNESCAP, to be also aided by Japanese government, SDC (Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation), GIZ, The Asia Foundation, and UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization).
The survey went for, in sectors of farming, forestry, fishery, extraction of natural resources, manufacturing, trade, hotels and restaurants, and other services, data on 3,016 businesses spread across many towns and cities in Myanmar. SMEs account for 91% of all respondents, and most businesses are over 15 years in existence.
Most businesses are said to be faced with obstacles in accessing aid, knowledge, regulations and taxes, infrastructure and utilities, and dealings with corrupt officials.
