Here in Myanmar, Tea Leaf Salad is considered as the main item on all the special occasions: wedding, Nat-worship ceremony, house-warming ceremony, Novitiation ceremony (Shin-byu) and social gathering etc.

Pickled tea leaf salad includes pickled tea leaves, dried shrimp, crisp, roasted peanuts, crunchy beans, roasted sesame seeds, fried garlic, some gloves of garlic, chopped cabbage, chopped tomato and green chillies. You can mix them all in a plate or you can seperate these items in piles to pick out a combination to their own prefer-ence.

Tea Leaf Salad is famous in Shan State and Mandalay Region. Some says that a formal dish (small size) of pickled tea leaf salad contains 200 calories with 12 g of total fat, 50 mg of sodium, 4 g of dietary fiber, 10 g of protein (varies depending on amount of dried shrimps, fish sauce), fried peanuts and fried beans as ingredient) and vitamins (depending on whether tomato, garlic, green chili, toasted sesame seeds, cabbage, juicy lime or other vegetables).
