OECD, UNESCAP and UMFCCI to Collect Data From Businesses in Myanmar
The Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federa-tion of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI), Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) will collaborate to conduct survey for data collection regarding business operations and business environment in Myanmar as a token of addressing current lack of information for businesses in Myanmar. The press conference for this activity was held at the UMFCCI, Yangon on 2nd December, 2013.
Vice President of the UMFCCI U Zaw Min Win said, “Surveys like this will be very useful for development of the public sector in Myanmar. Data collection will be conducted not just in big cities but all 15 states and regions across the country. Results from the survey will support Myanmar’s economy by providing better information. It will also help the government enact economy-based policies.
Korea Development Insitute (KDI), Deutsche Gesellchaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and ASEAN Foundation will work together in conducting surveys.
