LONDON, England – Capacity Media (part of Euromoney Institutional Investor) is proud to announce that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology will officially co-host Myanmar Connect 2014 (16 & 17 September 2014, Nay Pyi Taw) for the second year running. In a country where government involvement in any project is pivotal to its success, the Ministry’s endorsement of Myanmar Connect 2014 will be highly beneficial to any of our attendees aiming to do business in Myanmar.
This partnership means that senior ministry representatives will once again play an important role in the development of this important summit as they outline their vision for the future of communications and IT in Myanmar.
2013’s launch of this executive summit established Myanmar Connect as the most significant event in Myanmar’s telecoms calendar.
Myanmar Connect 2014 will build on 2013’s important platform and examine exactly how much the operating environment has changed over the last year. Market-leading speakers will debate and dissect critical developments in the communications ecosystem with a focus on strategy, infrastructure and services driving both the industry and Myanmar’s socio-economic trajectory.
As the international mobile license winners, Ooredoo Myanmar and Telenor Myanmar, near their launch dates the infrastructure builds across Myanmar have reached a fever pitch. Ross Cormack (CEO of Ooredoo Myanmar) and Petter Furberg (CEO of Telenor Myanmar) will both outline their strategies and targets for the year ahead at the conference. These will be joined by a senior representative from Myanmar’s incumbent operator, MPT, and the CEO of Yatarnapon Teleport Public Company, Shane Thu Aung.
The terrestrial developments in Myanmar, alongside the entry of many multinationals into the market have put a lot of pressure on Myanmar’s international providers, and the need for more capacity will only increase. Key executives from the international carrier marketplace active in Myanmar will share their view of the markets trajectory and unveil plans for increased terrestrial and subsea connectivity.
As connectivity and broadband penetration dramatically improves so will Myanmar’s socio-economic trajectory. Until now financial services in Myanmar have been critically underdeveloped. The proliferation of devices in the market throws the doors wide to banks, operators and IT entrepreneurs as they launch mobile money and payment applications. Myanmar Connect 2014 will introduce delegates to the market leaders and get to grips with the challenges and opportunities offered by the market.
