K 5,000 coin to commemorate Myanmar Government’s five years in office.

A COMMEMORATIVE K5,000 silver coin issued to mark the Union Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar’s first term of office, according to the Central Bank of Myanmar.

The coin composed of 92.50 percent silver. It has a diameter of 25 millimetres and weighs 20 grammes.
It will not be accepted as valid currency and it costs K30,000 to purchase. According to a CBM’s press release, the number of com-memorative coins is limited and they will be available at Myanmar Gems Enterprise’s sales centres.
Myanmar’s currency is almost exclusively limited to notes: a 5 Kyat coin was issued in the 1990s but it is now extremely rare, and due to inflation, impractical.

The coin has the State emblem on the front, featuring 5,000 Kyats and production date of 2015 in Myanmar language beneath. The front of the coin is surrounded by Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar above and Central Bank of Myanmar below, written in Myanmar language.

A royal white elephant is depicted on the back of the coin, with English featured on the back of the coin.
