Great Eastern Life Assurance has opened a representative office in Yangon.The mainboard-listed insurer is the first Southeast Asian life insurer to gain approval to set up an office in Myanmar.
The opening was officiated by Dr Maung Maung Thein, Myanmar’s deputy minister in the Ministry of Finance.
Great Eastern Life said Myanmar has a population of over 60 million and one of the lowest insurance penetration rates in Asia.
It sees tremendous opportunities to support Myanmar authorities in developing their insurance industry.
