Akhu minority could be seen living at four villages around Kyaington, eastern Shan state and the minority were derived from Akha family, it was thought. Since 200 years beginning of 19 century, beyond 18 century, Akha tribes were settling at the region of Kyaington plain and as the traditional ancestor Akhu minority were emerging dividing from the minority, it was thought.

Akha tribes have the traditional habit of learning by heart the names of their lineage. They were almost mysterious of reciting their names of lineage by heart without any fail. The declaration of how lineage derivation by present-day Akhu elders and the way of Akha derivation recorded by Anthropologist were not into differences and went nearly if it was compared.

Family formation of Akhu was similar to the formation of Akha family set up and has the traditional habit of learning the names of lineage by heart. Because of learning to know the names of lineage was related to religion and socialization.

Akhu tribes are Christians but still practicing the customary worshipping to Nat and ancient traditional belief up today.

Akhu minority was a fewer and generally, they only work hillside farming for their survival. Because of practicing the moveable hilside farming, the corps were not yielding enough, facing the difficult in food, clothing and survival; they again moved hillside farming together with village to some places. None of Akhu could not see living in Town but usually resided at the hill side and foot of the mountains around Kyaington.
