True IDC Myanmar means…

True IDC Thailand is above True IDC Myanmar. True IDC Thailand begun in 2003 has its mother company belonging in Ascend Group, a subsidiary of CP Group. In 2015 of AEC expansion the feasibility of business expansion was explored, in countries such as Cambodia, Myanmar, Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines. In AEC expansion different countries need different types of investment and service. Myanmar is the first country to receive a data center built by True IDC Thailand. That country and Cambodia only are already quite active in overall AEC expansion, but the rest of countries are following suit rather slowly. True IDC Myanmar has a data center first built in February 2015, to have soft launch in following September. Its service offer is to reach a full year yet.

Data Center’s Capacity

For business operation the local demand has required us to have 31 U Rack – 28 no, 42 U Rack – 32 no., and so Rack 60 no. totally.

Current Service offerings

We are mainly into data center co – location and cloud. With managed service through co location, cloud service remains to be offered. Cloud offerings need a scrutiny of local infrastructure. At present there already are users enjoying Cloud service offered from abroad. It is good for money also. They don’t need to buy server. There could be some weak points, Domestic cloud offerings better suit application users inside the country. But connectivity in Myanmar local infrastructure is not stabilized yet. However, technical and users sides are ready. Whether competitive prices is viable is one remaining question. It would set an user thinking: How could I pay 400 USD, instead of 15 USD currently for Singapore’s cloud offerings, just for a better connectivity locally.

Challenges being faced with

It is quite a challenge to me to align local requirement, local demand and international expectation. International side says we still have a shortfall in international standard. Next challenge: to find workers with required qualifications. The third challenge is to educate knowledge, like, to choose between data center and server room, why the need for data center, how does commercial data center serve etc.
