World Press Freedom Day 2016

June 30
09:42 2016

A ceremony to mark World Press Freedom Day, co-organized by Ministry of Information and UNESCO, was held on 3 May 2016 at Chatrium Hotel, Yangon. Union Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint in his speech on the occasion pointed out that prospective reforms in the legislative, administrative, and the judiciary are as important as the efforts made by journalists; and  media entities and individual journalists may take it to heart that they can move press freedom to progress. The fifth to be held in Myanmar, the World Press Freedom Day this year has the theme: Access to information and fundamental freedoms. This is your right!
