Infocomm technology (ICT) firm Myanmar Computer Company invests $80,000  in Microsoft training content to educate and equip citizens with 21^st century IT skills.

MYANMAR-June 13, 2014- The Myanmar computer company (MCC) today inked a strategic alliance with Microsoft that will see 100,000 people trained and equipped with workforce-ready IT skills over the next three years. Under the alliance, the MCC will offer new programs in cloud computing and other emerging technologies in association with Microsoft.

Myanmar’s potential to achieve unprecedented economic growth is anticipated to take place with the aid of technology enabling six key areas of its economy – government, education, healthcare, banking, retail and agriculture. Much of this Change is set to happen with the aid of cloud computing. However, the transformation is set to bring to the fore the issue of a distinct IT skills gap faced by the country. According to IDC, cloud – related IT jobs will grow at a rate of 32% per year to more than 2.3 million jobs in Asia Pacific by the end of 2015 but the region’s populace lacks the latest IT skills to address the demands of today’s cloud-enabled society.

“This initiative will allow our students to explore next generation opportunities in the fields of cloud computing, cloud services, and apps development,” said Group CEO of MCC Group cindy Chaw Khin Khin. “We want to ensure that our people are equipped with the right skills to say relevant and needed in the current and future workforce. This partnership with Microsoft will help make that a reality.”

Microsoft’s training content will be incorporated into the MCC Training Institute’s programs, including those that aren’t entirely computing-related. Students from retail and other academic fields and students studying in 170 MCC Centre’s countrywide can enroll for the new courser and be awarded up to 3 certificates of varying expertise. They are, in ascending order: Microsoft certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) and Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE). MCC aims to have its students’ industry-ready and achieve global employability by complementing its existing curriculum with Mcrosoft certifications.

Through Microsoft’s Partner Network, Knowledge Centricity is equipped with sales and marketing tools, training, licensing, and support to bring Microsoft technologies and services to the local market.

The MCC is Microsoft’s only Gold Learning Partner in Myanmar.
